The Columbia Village Centers concert series continues with a performance by the Backroads Band Thursday, July 2 at 6 p.m. in the Hickory Ridge Village Center. The Taters plays July 2, 6 p.m., at the Dorsey's Search Village Center, while Turner, Dean of Magic will do tricks Friday, July 3, 6 p.m., at the Kings Contrivance Village Center.

Student musicians picked
Violinist Kevin Hutt of Long Reach High School was one of the 12 student instrumentalists selected by the board of Sundays at Three for its first annual junior year chamber music awards. One outstanding musician from each of the Howard County High Schools was selected for the small monetary award, which also comes with a certificate and two season tickets to the next chamber music series.
Also selected for the award was Natalie Hogg, percussionist (Atholton High); Mulong Li, clarinetist (Centennial High); Sarah Shin, cellist (Glenelg Country); Gregory Szalkowski, cellist (Hammond High); Grace Thistle, oboist (Howard High); Sarah Hess, pianist (Marriotts Ridge High); Kevin Bao, flutist/pianist (Mt. Hebron High); Haley Payne, horn player (Oakland Mills High); Annie Park, violinist (Reservoir High); Vincent Grover, horn player (River Hill High); and Arielle Miller, percussionist (Wilde Lake High).
