Chamber goes to church

Members of the Columbia Orchestra will perform a chamber music concert Sun., June 22 at 3 p.m. in Christ Episcopal Church, located at 6800 Oakland Mills Road in Columbia. The concert will feature music director and cellist Jason Love, concertmaster Brenda Anna, and Columbia Orchestra pianist Nancy Smith. Admission is free. Outdoor sounds

The Hula Monsters can be heard as part of the Howard County Recreation and Parks' concert series Fri., June 20 at 7 p.m. at Western Regional Park (14800 Carrs Mill Road, Woodbine). The Hula Monsters is a swing band with a Hawaiian flavor that has played locally for some 20 years. Admission is free. Call 410-313-4452.

Live at the village centers

Outdoor summer concerts return to Columbia's village centers again this year starting Thu., June 19 at 6 p.m. with Mr. Dave of D's Magic at the Hickory Ridge Village Center. Orlando Phillips plays Caribbean music Fri., June 20, 11:30 a.m., at the Kings Contrivance Village Center. The Kinderman will give a show for children Fri., June 20, 6 p.m., at the River Hill Village Center. Irish Ann Hirsch will play acoustic versions of classic rock tunes Fri., June 20, 11:30 a.m., at the Wilde Lake Village Center. Admission to the performance series is free. Call 443-367-0110.

Celebrate spring with dance

Spring is the time to showcase young dancers. Locally, the Misako Ballet Company will present many of its rising talents in its full-length concert "Celebration of Spring" at the Howard County Center for the Arts this Sunday, June 22 at 4 p.m. Highlights include a new rendition of the classic 19th-century "Pas de Quatre" and a lovely, Japanese-inspired modern ballet reflecting seasonal changes.
