The Walters Art Museum is putting its Fridays at the Walters series on ice until the fall when it holds the last event of the season June 27, 6 p.m. The evening will start with a 6 p.m. tour, "Mapping the Cosmos: Images from the Hubble Space Telescope." At 7 p.m., Philadelphia-based, anti-folk singer-songwriter Emily Bate will perform in the Museum Café. Come fall, the museum will start a new Fridays at the Walters series. Admission is free. African heritage
Baltimore City's Showcase of Nations Ethnic Festivals will hold its annual African-American Heritage Festival Friday-Sunday, June 27-29, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. This event will feature exhibits and vendors celebrating culture, education, and arts. There will also be a full slate of entertainers. Trains roll in
The Great Scale Model Train Show rolls into Timonium again Saturday-Sunday, June 28-29, at the Maryland State Fairground. It will showcase products from dealers from around the country who will sell model trains, equipment, and all sorts of related items. There will be 450 tables of merchandise in all. Hours are Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is $7 general (and good for two days) and free for children ages 12 and younger. Family admission is $14. Call 410-730-1036.
Mind your art
The Creative Alliance at the Patterson is launching an Open Minds Art Club series Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, June 26-Aug. 5. Classes will be held for kids ages 5-7 as well as ages 8-18. New museum hours
The Walters Art Museum will offer extended hours starting Wednesday, July 2. The museum will be open Wednesday-Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and will no longer be open late every Friday night. Call 410-547-9000.
New happy hour
Sotto Sopra Restaurant is hosting Italian-styled happy hours Mondays-Thursdays, 5-7 p.m. at the bar (located at 405 N. Charles St.). Fun in Pennsylvania
The Kutztown Folk Festival takes place June 28-July 6, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., at the Kutztown Fairgrounds, in Kutztown, Pa. (located on Route 222 between Allentown and Reading). The family-oriented festival celebrates Pennsylvania Dutch folklife and attracts around 150,000 visitors each year. Admission is $12 general, $11 for seniors and free for children 12 and under.
