Angela and Ted Richardson and Glen Canon, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., formerly of Columbia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Samantha Nicole Canon, to Joel William Hart, son of Sherry and Darwin Higginbotham and Michael Hart, of Callahan, Fla.

The bride-to-be holds an associate degree and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She is a server at the Marche Burette on the Amelia Island Plantation resort in Florida.

The future groom has an emergency medical technician license and degree. He is an emergency room technician at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.

A March 2010 wedding is planned.
