Tara Matthews and Matthew Mitchell

Jayne and Albert Folkman, and Barbara and Henry Matthews, of La Plata, announce the engagement of their daughter, Tara Matthews, to Matthew Mitchell, son of Nancy Mitchell, of Laurel.

The bride-to-be is a 1997 graduate of La Plata High School, a 2001 graduate of University of Maryland and a 2007 graduate of Johns Hopkins University, completing a Master of Science degree there. She is a kindergarten teacher in Silver Spring.

The groom-to-be is a 1996 graduate of Laurel High School and is a business owner of a home improvement company in Howard County.

An April 2009 wedding is planned.
