Janie and Steven Jones, of Columbia, announce the first wedding anniversary of their daughter, Heather Jones, and son-in-law, Hakim Hessas.

Ms. Jones graduated from Wilde Lake High School, St. Mary's College of Maryland, and received a master's degree in translation and interpretation from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, located in California. She is employed as a translator at Ernst & Young, in Paris.

Mr. Hessas immigrated to France from Algeria, where he earned a college degree and worked for the Ministry of Transportation. He also currently works in Paris. The couple were married in May 2008 and reside in a suburb of Paris.
