Days are cooling. School is back in session. Now is the perfect time to do something just for you. You’re worth it. Actually, it’s free and incidentally you’ll also be doing something nice for your family and friends. What could that something be?
Dig out your favorite walking shoes or go buy new ones and come join the 50+ Walking Club. You need not actually be 50+. All ages are welcome. The group meets at Claret Hall in the River Hill shopping center at 10 a.m. Thursdays. Exploring the lovely shaded pathways through the Village of River Hill with congenial companions is a great diversion from the everyday routine and gives a respite from cares. You might even want to come back again on Tuesday mornings or arrange other times to get together with group members at a more convenient time.
Stop thinking of excuses. It’s something you need to do for you. Will you be able to keep up? Of course, you will. Your pace will pick up every week and experienced walkers will match your pace. There are many cut-off paths for shorter walks. Maybe you tried walking in the past and gave up. Try again. The more you do it, the more likely it is to become a good habit. I tank up like a camel before and after walking, but you might want to bring a water bottle. That and a “can-do” spirit are all you need to have a great morning with friends. It’s too early to quit.
