Take Your Paper for a Drive

By Darleen Sanford
Posted: August 10, 2008

Have you considered taking your papers for a weekend drive?Last year Linden-Linthicum United Methodist Church received $250 for their Sandtown Habitat for Humanity project by collecting and recycling 15 tons of paper. This year they need 18 tons to net $250, but with a little extra effort they could be getting $500. To earn the higher amount, they need 18.85 tons by the end of this month. You can help. Bring newspaper, mail, magazines, catalogs etc. to put in the green and yellow dumpster in the church parking lot. Do not bring cardboard.

The church is located across from the Free State gas station on Route 108. If you need help getting a large number of magazines or papers to the bin, call 301-854-0179 or e-mail mmcb7025@aol.com to arrange for pick up.

Try Mi-Mi’s Kabob

By Darleen Sanford
Posted: August 8, 2008

Your weekend “staycation” could include a gastronomical journey to Afghanistan. Mi-Mi’s Kabob at 12345 Wake Forest Road directly across Route 108 from St. Louis Church is the latest eatery on the Clarksville scene.

The restaurant offers authentic Afghan cuisine and more. On the menu you will find Chopan Kabob (flame broiled lamb chops), beef, chicken and lamb kabobs and the popular vegetable platter. The pumpkin or eggplant side dishes have been well received and are quite tasty. Meals are prepared quickly.

If you’re in a rush, you could call ahead and have your order waiting, but it’s more entertaining to watch Chef John waving the fan (direct from Afghanistan) over the kabobs to spread the flame for even cooking or watch the making of tandoori bread as the taste-tempting aromas waft through the air. Next time, I’ll try qabuli rice. It looks so tantalizing.

Chef Victor from the previous restaurant on site is still there and by popular demand you’ll find pizza, calzone and wings for lunch. More salads, sandwich wraps and an Afghan pizza are in the offing. Edwin and Compos are the new crewmembers. Current hours are Mon-Sat., 11 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday, 3-9 p.m. The phone number is 410-531-2000.
