Girl Scouts Collecting Treasured Books for Children

“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island,” Walt Disney said. Books can transport any child from their living room couch to a glittering princess castle to a magical mountaintop in a matter of minutes. Books can also lead to a lifetime of learning and love of reading, which we would all like to encourage, especially in children.

Girl Scout Troop 1565 would like everyone to participate in a Book Drive! They are collecting children’s books to benefit kids in Baltimore City. Search your attic, and under your bed and find all of your gently used children’s books for this great cause. What a wonderful thing to own books!

Let’s all pitch in and make this a real possibility for as many children as we can.You can drop off your “loot” of books at Elkridge Elementary School, Ilchester Elementary School or Our Lady of Perpetual Help School until Sunday, Nov. 16. There will be boxes in the lobby at each school for your contributions. If you have questions, please contact Katelyn Whitebloom at 410-379-3889.
