Candlelight Concert at St. Augustine Church Dec. 14

Christmastime wouldn’t be complete without the musical talents of the St. Augustine Church Choir.  The Candlelight Concert is Sunday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.  All are invited to attend.

Valerie Lawrence will once again perform an all time favorite, “O Holy Night” on the violin during the St. Augustine Candlelight Concert.

Turkey Trot At Elkridge Landing Middle School

Elkridge Landing Middle School had its14th Annual Turkey Trot a few weeks ago. Congratulations to Turkey Trot participants and winners for a most successful fun mile run through the snow flurries this year.

“Our enthusiastic students, staff and parents demonstrated lots of school spirit and endurance as they ran the 1-mile on this chilly fall day.  We would like to give special thanks to our Related Arts Staff and parent volunteers for their assistance at this event.  We would also like to thank our PTSA for the prize donations for our winners of the races,” ELMS representatives said.

The top finishers for the sixth grade were: Nia Elbeck, Damian Cesaitis, Anastasiya Volkova, A.J. Committee, Lillie Miller and Devin Rowell.

The top finishers for seventh grade were: Philip Adejumo, Darryl Montgomery, Justin Simmons, Kristi Kapp, Maddie Barrow and Sydney Biniak.

The top finishers for eighth grade were: Michael LeClair, Matt Brown, Jesse Gentry, Angelina Rebaza, Abigail Caspar and Tori Crump.

Congratulations to the top adult community winners: Rick Biniak, Mike McMillion and Karen Shouse

Special thanks to all of the parent volunteers and former staff for their support:

Badminton Championships at Elkridge Landing Middle

During physical education classes, many students competed in the Elkridge Landing Middle School Badminton Tournament.
Skills had improved a lot this year and the competition was tough!  Grade level winners for the singles games were:

Sixth-grade: Austin Bennett, Gerardo Portillo; seventh-grade: Max Balter, Marcus Fedarko; eighth-grade: Agil Jose, Jazlyn Nketia

“Despite the talents of many of our students, Mr. (Thomas) Saunders still remains the undefeated singles badminton champ at ELMS,” Carol Jones declared.

In our doubles tournament, the results were:

Sixth grade: Austin Bennett and  Zach Ciepiela, Gerardo Portillo and  Michael Xega; Seventh grade: Max Balter and  Joey Grabowski, Andrew Accardi and  Matt Marcin; eighth grade: Jazlyn Nketia and  Michael Bullock, Blackburn and  Michelle Amaya

Principal Thomas Saunders selected student players as his doubles partner to challenge many of our doubles teams.  This year the student teams including

Max Balter and  Joey Grabowski and also Tyler Lewis and  Clay Bartnik defeated Saunders doubles team in the competition.  These seventh-grade boys earned “bragging rights” in badminton for their win and also a bonus of 50 star cards each!  Way to go guys!

Girl Scout Cookie Sale Extended

Girl Scout cookie sales have been extended through December! Local Junior Girl Scout Troop 4768, under the leadership of Katina Denikos and Michele Harder, still has a selection of cookies available, so if you want to stock upon your favorite variety, you are in luck.

“I would love to spread the joy of Girl Scout cookies to more people,” Girl Scout Stephanie Moy said. Stephanie can be reached through her mom, the official troop cookie representative, at mariamoy@comcast.net.

Nancy Grabowski’s Holiday Greens Sale this Weekend

Nancy Grabowski’s Holiday Greens and Craft Sale will be Dec. 5, 6, and 7, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at 5820 Augustine Ave., in Elkridge.

“We will have fresh wreaths; roping; swags for windowsill, mailbox or door; centerpieces; fireside baskets; topiaries; miniature boxwood Christmas trees; and crafts,” Grabowski said.
