The Rumor Mill Fusion Bar and Restaurant is holding a Chef Cook-Off Wednesday, Nov. 5 which pits Brandon Pekar, their new executive chef, against Owen Hanratty, operating manager and owner of their sister restaurant, Cacao Lane.

Both restaurants are located in the Historic District, Cacao Lane on Main Street and The Rumor Mill on Tiber Alley in the old Sides Streets building.

Patrons pick the winner and get to experience some great food. Both chefs will make a two course tasting menu that fits with The Rumor’s Asian fusion theme. One course will be an entree with at least one side, the other course can be an appetizer, soup, or salad with the courses served head to head. A free dessert will be offered to every table that participates in the cook off. Price is $55 per couple and you can get a wine pairing for $10 more.

For more information about The Rumor Mill, call 410-461-0041 or go to http://www.therumormillrestaurant.com/.

St. John’s Episcopal Church Homecoming Celebration

By Cathi Higgins

St. John’s Episcopal Church kicked off its fall schedule of programming, figuratively and literally, by hosting its second annual homecoming celebration with a football-themed event. The nearly 140 attendees got into the spirit upon arrival as college football fight songs filled the air. The event featured several interactive games which encouraged attendees across the generations to identify commonalities or unique points about themselves.

Special thanks go event planning committee members Karen Good, Laura Zulick, Lucy Eldridge, Lisa Peters and Carol Kinloch. “The St. John’s Homecoming Celebration fostered our church’s ‘From Generation to Generation’ theme by encouraging parishioners to seek out and further cement relationships with those across multiple generations,” said Good, “Events like Homecoming are a fun way to honor their efforts and further promote harmony among parishioners.”
