The League of Women Voters of Howard County will hold a general meeting Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Great Room of the Ellicott City Senior Center, 9400 Frederick Road in Ellicott City.
The focus of the meeting is Columbia Town Center. The featured speaker is Greg Hamm from General Growth Properties. Moderators for the meeting are League co-presidents Grace Kubofcik and Barbara Schnackenberg.
Because of the importance of Columbia Town Center to all Howard Countians, the League is inviting the public to attend and ask questions. Please invite your neighbors and friends to join you.
The League is strictly nonpartisan; it neither supports nor opposes candidates for office at any level of government. The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks is offering Breakfast at Tersiguel’s Saturday, Sept. 27 where you can enjoy a savory breakfast at Tersiguel’s French Restaurant and discover the history of the 225-year-old mill town’s past through a slide presentation narrated by Joetta Cramm, local historian and author.
For ages 18 and up, “Ellicott City I – The Founding of Ellicott Mills” will be held at the restaurant at 10:30 a.m. Then, on Oct. 18, “Ellicott City II – Story of Ellicott Mills through the 19th century” will be presented, also at 10:30 a.m.

An Elm Street Development project to extend the sewer line to serve 23 lots in the Amber Meadows subdivision in Ellicott City is underway. During the project, southbound traffic on New Cut Road near Hillsborough Road will be shifted to the northbound lane. Weather permitting, the project should be completed by late October 2008.
Flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic during construction hours, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
