Meet the New Principals July 29

By Leslie Bauer
Posted: July 24, 2008

As the calendar turned to the month of July, parents at Glenwood and Folly Quarter Middle Schools were greeted with e-mails from the new principals at each of these schools, Dave Brown and Rick Wilson, respectively.

Each principal first thanked the former principals for their assistance in the transition to a new post, and wished the former principals well in their new positions. Each of the principals will be working with PTA members to help foster a strong parent-school connection.

To that end, each school has scheduled meet and greet sessions – an opportunity for the community to come and meet the new principals and get to know a bit about them.

Glenwood Middle School will be conducting two sessions. The first one will be Tuesday, July 29 and a second will take place Aug. 20. Both sessions will begin at 7 p.m. Folly Quarter Middle School will hold its meet-and-greet session Aug. 14 at 6:30 p.m.

CCH Call for Donations

By Leslie Bauer
Posted: July 16, 2008

Congregations Concerned for the Homeless, located in Columbia, is currently seeking donations for two new families moving from homelessness to its transitional housing program. With community donations, CCH is able to get families off to a good start and set a tone for success. When families successfully leave the CCH program for permanent housing they take their furnishings and housewares with them. Community donations will truly benefit the families and are much appreciated.

Donated items may be used, but should be in very good condition, as would be used in your own home. Items should not look worn or have stains. Currently needed items include mattresses with box springs, dressers, bedside tables, living room chairs and coffee table, dining room table and chairs, general kitchen and dinnerware supplies, bookcases and desks.

Additionally, linens, such as towels, sheets, blankets and bedspreads or comforters are also needed. Lastly, general household items like lamps, clocks, coat hangers, basic tools and a vacuum are needed. If you can donate any of these items, or would like to be added as a contact for future donations, please contact Lori Nedd, Housing and Program Manager for CCH at 410-884-5408 x 3 or e-mail lnedd@cch-hc.org.
