Navy Band Performs at River Hill High School Dec. 5

On Friday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m., the River Hill High School Department of Music proudly hosts the United States Navy Band live in concert. Admission is free and open to all. Christmas Schooner: A New Musical Appearing at Chapelgate Theatre

Chapelgate Presbyterian Church presents Christmas Schooner: A New Musical, through a special arrangement with Musical Theatre International of New York. This humorous and family friendly holiday show, which is based upon a book by John Reeger, portrays the true-life story of a 19th century schooner captain who braved the elements to transport Christmas trees from upper Lake Michigan to Chicago’s German immigrants.

Performances are scheduled for Dec. 12 at 8 p.m., Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Local Churches Offer Thanksgiving Services

Two area churches invite the community to join their special Thanksgiving worship services. Chapelgate Presbyterian, which lies across from Turf Valley Resort at 2600 Marriottsville Road, offers its service Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. Call the church office at 410-442-5800 with any questions.

Thanksgiving service at West Liberty United Methodist Church takes place Thursday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. The address for West Liberty is 2000 Sand Hill Road, in Marriottsville. For more details, call 410-442-2969.

MRHS Honor Society Collects Toys for Tots

Between Monday, Nov. 17 and Dec. 5, the Marriotts Ridge High School chapter of the National Honor Society will sponsor a holiday toy drive for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. Drop off your donation of new, unwrapped toys to the front office of the school on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

MRHS Presents “The Importance of Being Earnest” Nov. 20-23

The Marriotts Ridge High School Theater will present “The Importance of Being Earnest,” Oscar Wilde’s witty play about fictitious identities, love, and the hypocrisy of late Victorian society. Show times are Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 20-22 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10.

The school’s National Art Honor Society will present a full British tea at 1 p.m. preceding the Sunday, Nov. 23 performance. These tickets also cost $10 and include an original teacup.
