Here’s your chance to contribute to the Hurricane Ike Recovery Drive, a goodwill gesture masterminded by the members of the Glenelg High School Key Club. The civic minded goals of the club are embodied in its motto, “Caring- Our Way of Life.”

Club member Bradley Carpenter and his team have set up collection boxes at both Glenelg High and Bushy Park Elementary School offices, where donations of batteries, toilet paper, crayons, books, baby wipes, soap, diapers, canned food, flashlights, socks, small radios and toys are being accepted.

For a full list of most urgently needed supplies, go to www.freewebs.com/glenelgkeyclub and follow the links to the Hurricane Ike Recovery Drive. Anyone who would like to contribute a check to help defray costs of shipping, may make the check out to Glenelg High School with a note of Hurricane Ike in the memo line. The items which are collected will be sent to FEMA or the American Red Cross for distribution to hurricane victims. The club members will be collecting items until Oct. 7.
