Imagine That Studios announced its seventh year supporting the Howard County High School after-prom parties. For the third consecutive year, all 12 of Howard County's high schools are hosting an after-prom, chemical-free party.

In the past couple of years, including 2009, Imagine That Studios has donated close to $3,600 annually in high school senior portrait photography packages to the cause. The prize is awarded at the prom night party.

Nine nonprofit organizations representing six Maryland counties and Baltimore City -- including one from Howard County -- were honored as recipients of the PNC Foundation's PNC Legacy Project grants at a luncheon held April 21 at the Baltimore headquarters of the Maryland Humanities Council.

The grant program is an effort to creatively honor and preserve the unique history of local communities, events and individuals across the state of Maryland.

Courtney Wilson, executive director of B&O Railroad Museum Inc. was present to accept a $3,500 grant for the project, "How the War Ran Through Ellicott City," an examination of the role of Howard County and the railroad during the Civil War.

Bonnie Heneson Communications, a marketing communications firm with a Columbia-based office, recently received a gold Hermes Creative Award for the integrated marketing campaign developed for Monarch Academy Public Charter School, in Glen Burnie.

Woodstock resident Salil Choudhary has started a new exercise idea, Mobile Gym USA. Customers exercise on a mobile facility that is a gym on wheels. It comes with trainers to help customers excel.

Mobile Gym has plans designed for different age groups from five- or six-years-old to senior citizens. It has trainers with experience for all groups. It's currently based in Howard County and serves parts of Anne Arundel, Batimore, Montgomery and Prince George's counties.

Geier Financial Group employees gave back to the local community April 26 by volunteering at the Howard Life Festival based in Columbia. Several staff members of Geier Financial assisted with the event by handling the main water stop along the bike route. During the ride, more than 250 bikers visited a water stop, where they were greeted with friendly faces, good music and water, Gatorade, and other energy boosting sustenance.
