Essien-Ita Offiong, of Laurel, was nominated to serve as a citizen representative on Prince George's County's Minority Business Opportunities Commission. Offiong is a July 2009 graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park with a degree in economics. He served as an intern in the county executive's office, where he assisted with assignments involving international trade, economic development and the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission.
