James Leanos has returned to Manekin, in Columbia. Now serving as a vice president in the firm's brokerage division, he focuses on tenant representation and corporate services, as well as business development in the Baltimore-Washington corridor.

From 1973 to 1976, Leanos served as a sales and leasing representative with Manekin. He spent the next 16 years running his independently-owned commercial real estate brokerage firm, subsequently affiliating with CB Commercial Real Estate Group, Casey & Associates/ONCOR International and KLNB.

Most recently, he served as an associate broker at Jackson Cross Partners/ONCOR International, in Philadelphia.

The Howard County Arts Council announced that Richard Talkin, local lawyer and avid art collector, will serve as honorary chair of the 13th annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County. The Celebration, presented by the Arts Council, will be held at The Jim Rouse Theatre for the Performing Arts, in Columbia, on April 24 from 6 to 10 p.m. Richard Story, executive director of the Howard County Economic Development Authority, will emcee the program.

The Casey Cares Foundation announced that Howard County resident Casey Baynes, founder and executive director, has been selected to receive the Top 100 Minority Business Enterprise Award. This program is designed to acknowledge and pay tribute to outstanding women and minority business owners in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington.

Christine Baskin has been named vice president of market research for Merkle, a marketing agency with offices in Columbia. Baskin has more than two decades of experience, including marketing in the fields of pharmaceutical and health care, retail and consumer packaged goods, banking, technology, restaurants and hospitality and telecommunications.
