In her paintings, Cathy Harville records journeys with nature by foot and by kayak. Cathy's goal is to capture nature before it is lost forever. Cathy paints her journeys as she explores places that are unknown, unseen or forgotten. She has recorded nature at its finest in parks, refuges, swamps, beaches and farms.

Viewers can share her interpretations of nature at LaGaleria, 8171 Maple Lawn Blvd., Suite 170 during October. Her reception is Sunday, Oct. 12 from 4 to 5 p.m.

Her paintings bring a new discovery of colors, feelings, and light. She attempts to capture the natural environment and show how humans are affecting the natural order of nature. Her paintings use bold, vivid color and designs to portray landscapes, seascapes and floral designs and invite the viewer to become a part of the artwork.

Cathy gave up her career in corporate America to paint. Her work has been exhibited in many venues in Maryland and New York. Her artwork hangs in homes and offices throughout the country. Her studio is in Historic Savage Mill in Savage.
