Now that the spring season looms in the near future, we want to be sure that our senior readers have some important information regarding the satellite senior center at Resurrection Parish Church. At the beginning of 2009, the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging decided to discontinue its satellite programs that were held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for our local senior citizens at Resurrection.
Please don't let this decision keep anyone at home. Many of our neighbors have now opted to attend programs at the Phelps Center in Old Town Laurel and the O'Malley Center in Odenton.
So get back out and in touch with friends and neighbors by checking out the programs available at each of these sites.
Soccer registrations are still being accepted by mail. For information, check out the soccer Web site at www.mcrcsoccer.venitsports.com or contact John at 301-725-7711, dpws@aol.com, or Steve at 301-725-6989, sjreyda@verizon.net. Practices for ages 7 and up will begin sometime around the first week of March, weather permitting.
The boys and girls of summer can also register for baseball, softball and T-ball Saturdays, Feb. 21 and 28, between 1-4 p.m. at the Sport's Authority in Corridor Marketplace on Route 198.
The Brock Bridge PTA reminds all participants that Market Day delivery is tonight, Thursday, Feb. 19 between 6:45-7:45 p.m. The PTA also invites all neighbors to support the programs in our school by joining us for a family dinner at Applebee's, on the corner of Route 1 and Contee Road, as part of our Restaurant Shuffles, Wednesday, Feb. 25 between 5-9 p.m.
Maryland City Elementary invites neighbors to help raise funds for technology by participating in a Chick-fil-A fundraiser evening on Thursday, March 5 from 5-9 p.m. at the restaurant in Corridor Marketplace.
Both schools need the support of not only its parents and staff, but also the community at large, so please support our local elementary schools.
Finally, Maryland City Baptist Church invites its neighbors to missions and dinner nights, Monday, March 1 through Wednesday, March 4. Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and the mission talks start at 7 p.m. Each evening a different missionary will speak. A nursery will be provided. Please R.S.V.P. for the dinners by Feb. 24. Call the Rev. Mitch Young at 301-725-3609 or e-mail mdcitybaptist@comcast.net.
