Army National Guard 1st Lt. Ryan D. Hobbs, Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Katrina M. Washington and Air National Guard Tech. Sgt. Michael E. Gillis participated in the 56th Presidential Inauguration Jan. 20 as part of the largest ever contingent of National Guard members to serve in Washington.

Hobbs is an assistant operations officer with the 2nd Battalion, 110th Field Artillery Regiment based in Westminster. He is the son of Dennis and Valerie Hobbs of Woodbine. The guardsman graduated in 2002 from South Carroll High School and earned a bachelor's degree in 2007 from McDaniel College.

Washington, a dental technician with nine years of military service, is a member of the 113th Medical Group, Andrews Air Force Base, Camp Springs. She is the niece of Denise B. Walls, of Columbia, and Cindy M. Lann, of College Park. The sergeant graduated in 1999 from Gwynn Park High School, Brandywine.

Gillis, an aircraft mechanic, is a member of the 175th Aircraft Maintenance based in Squadron in Middle River. He is the son of Joseph Gillis, of Columbia, and Dianne C. Gillis, of Rosedale. The guardsman graduated in 1998 from Oakland Mills High School.
