Did you see them this weekend? The giant bunny tracks? It looks as though the Easter Bunny once again enjoyed hopping through the streets of Maryland City and other local neighborhoods. Maybe we can all take on the Eater Bunny's challenge by taking to our neighborhood streets as well. The warmer weather brings many opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors with family and friends. Take the challenge to add a little healthier living to your lifestyle by adding an after-dinner walk each evening around Old Line Avenue or along the walking trail beside Brock Bridge Road. It is a great way to get some exercise and meet our neighbors.
Next week, Brock Bridge Elementary School encourages all families in our area to take a break from TV and rediscover the fun that families can have together, without the TV. The PTA coordinated several activities throughout its TV Free Week to facilitate breaking the habit of turning on the TV. Everyone is invited to join the PTA on April 20 between 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Laurel Skating Center. The next night, April 21, includes a Game Night at the Maryland City at Russett library. Meet family and friends at Chick-fil-A in Corridor Marketplace on Wednesday, April 22, between 5-9 p.m. for the restaurant shuffle. Join the school community on Thursday, April 23, for the annual Science and Technology Night where all of the wonderful science fair projects will be on display. Finally, spend time at home with the family on Friday, April 24, cooking up your favorite family recipe together. The PTA thanks Linda Stroud for facilitating this year's TV Free Week.
If you are looking for some extra Friday evening entertainment and friendship, then join the Maryland City Baptist Church April 17 as it hosts another enjoyable Dinner and a Movie. The free dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and the movie start time is scheduled for 7 p.m. Please contact the Rev. Mitch Young for more information at 301-725-3609 or mdcitybaptist@comcast.net.
The Maryland City at Russet library continues its Babies in Bloom project every Wednesday at 10 a.m. for infants through 2-year-olds. Join the group April 22 as representatives from Tot's Line join the program with information and discussions relating to the caring of newborns to 5-year-olds. The library also invites its patronage out for a fun Family Game Night on Monday, April 20 from 6:30-8 p.m.
The Meade Middle School PTSA invites parents and students out to its next general membership meeting on April 21 at 7 p.m. in the media center. Following the meeting there will be a discussion about current uniform policies and ideas and proposals for next year.
The Meade Middle PTSA will hold elections for next year's board at its May meeting. Contact Lucinda Sanchez at 301-741-9246, or Barbie Reyda at 301-725-6989, if you are interested in running for the positions of president, vice-president, treasurer or secretary for the Meade Middle PTSA.
Elections for the positions of president and treasurer for the Brock Bridge PTA will also be held in May. If you are interested in running for one of those positions, contact Angela Gaffney at 301-617-9711 or Julie Hummer at 301-317-6562.
Finally, don't forget the Maryland City Volunteer Fire Department's flea market, scheduled next weekend on Saturday, April 25 between 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the firehouse. Cost for a table is $12 and a space runs $10. Call 301-725-7435 to reserve a table or space.
