Darla D. Bouma and George W. Church Jr.

Darlene and John Bouma Sr., of Clarksville, announce the marriage of their daughter, Darla Dawn Bouma, to George Walter Church Jr., son of Ginger and George Church Sr., also of Clarksville, on July 12, 2008.

The bride is a 2000 graduate of River Hill High School and a graduate of Salisbury University, where she received a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She is working on a master's degree in educational technology and online learning from Johns Hopkins University. She is a second grade teacher at Dayton Oaks Elementary with the Howard County Public School System.

The groom is also a 2000 graduate of River Hill High School and received a bachelor's degree in communication arts from Salisbury University. He works for Capital Elevator as sales/project coordinator.

The ceremony was held at Linden Linthicum United Methodist Church in Clarksville, and a reception followed at the Sykesville-Freedom Fire Department Hall. The matrons of honor were Christine, Kim and Susan Bouma and Jason Church served as best man.

The couple honeymooned in St. James, Barbados and reside in Ellicott City.

Jennifer L. Stukey and Brian A. Bieda

Nedenia Tucker, of Glenelg, and William Stukey, of St. Augustine, Fla., announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Lee Stukey, to Brian Bieda, son of Joanne Ganz, of Harwood, and James Bieda, of Ellicott City.

The bride-to-be is a 1997 graduate of Glenelg High School and received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2002. She earned a master's degree in acupuncture in 2005 and certification in Chinese herbal medicine in 2008, both from the Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel. She currently has a private acupuncture practice in Columbia, specializing in women's health.

The future groom is a 1994 graduate of Old Mill High School, in Millersville, and holds a master certification for auto mechanics from A.S.E. and the Toyota Motor Company. He has been an auto technician for 12 years at Brown's Toyota of Glen Burnie, where he has received the highest award for excellence as a master technician and ranked in the highest category for the customer service index.

The couple resides in Columbia. A summer wedding is planned.

Jessica Petersen and Christopher Crawford

Judy and Kurt Petersen, of Daisy, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Petersen, to Christopher Crawford, son of Sandy and Bill Crawford, also of Daisy.

The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Glenelg High School. She is a recent graduate of Salisbury University, where she majored in international studies with a minor in Spanish.

The groom-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Glenelg High School. He is currently working as a jeweler.

A June 2010 wedding is planned.

Meredith M. Cordisco and Alexander S. Nowak

Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas John Cordisco, of Medford, N.J., announce the engagement of their daughter, Meredith Marie Cordisco, to Alexander Stephen Nowak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Nowak, of Clarksville.

The bride-to-be attended Shawnee High School, in Medford, and is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where she earned a bachelor's degree in hearing and speech sciences. She is enrolled at Bloomsburg University's doctorate program for audiology and is currently an intern at Georgetown University Hospital, in Washington.

The future groom attended River Hill High School and is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics. He is the general manager for KIA Motors, in Laurel.

A July 2009 wedding is planned.

Lauren J. Brookman and Michael P. Hammett

Julie and Ronald Brookman, of Dayton, announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Julie Brookman, to Michael Paul Hammett, son of Diane Davidson and Paul Hammett, of Hagerstown, formerly of Columbia.

The bride-to-be is a 2003 graduate of Mount de Sales Academy and a 2007 graduate of Goucher College, where she received a bachelor's degree in psychology. She is currently a special education paraeducator at Bryant Woods Elementary School, in Columbia.

The future groom is a 1998 graduate of Eastern Technical High School. He finished the Montgomery College Apprenticeship Program in 2004 and is currently at the Community College of Baltimore County-Catonsville, working toward a degree in construction management. He is an energy management controls technician with Chugach Government Services Inc.

A July 25 wedding is planned.
