Well, what a great weekend we had for the Savage Fest 2009 and the Savage United Methodist Church's annual Strawberry Festival. There was great weather, great food, lots of activities and great entertainment. I hope each of you enjoyed the festival.

I want to thank the many volunteers and the Savage Community Association for all of their hard work in making these annual events happen. It is the effort of just a few that make good things happen for the good of all. Thanks to all who helped make these annual events such a success.

For those of you who know Josh Kelly (2000 graduate from Atholton High School), you will be interested to know that he will have a role in the upcoming "Transformers" movie. Josh has been in California for the past several years working on making a life for himself as an actor.

However, before moving to Los Angeles, Josh served our country as an Army Ranger. He was assigned the team leader in the Third Ranger Battallion. During his time in the Army, Josh had three tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq (he parachuted in on the second day of the war).

Before completing his time in the Army, Josh had been promoted to sargeant. After his discharge, he followed his dreams to Calilfornia to pursue an acting career.

Those dreams seem to be paying off for Josh. He has appeared in television shows such as "Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service," "Ugly Betty," "CSI: Miami," HBO's "True Blood" as well as feature films "The Portal" and "9 Seconds." He was also the writer, director and producer of his own feature-length project, "Cope."

In his latest role, Josh will play Strike Force Member No. 4 in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," the destined-to-be summer blockbuster which opens June 24.

Wow, the roles just keep coming and we want to wish Josh all the best! Good luck with the pursuit of your acting career, Josh, and thanks for your service to our country.

The Savage Boys and Girls Club announces the beginning of the 2009 flag football season registration opening. Because of the various dates and times for registration, the SBGC has asked that those who are interested, go to the Web site at www.savagebgc.org for forms and information.

John Goodman, flag football commissioner, wants to let the community know that there will be three age groups: 6-8, years old, 9-11 and 12-14.

With our community now busy during the days with children running here and there, riding their bikes and hanging out with friends, drivers are being asked to drive more cautiously on our community roads. Slow down and watch out.

I want to wish all of my readers who will be celebrating a birthday or an anniversary during the upcoming week a very happy one. Have fun and celebrate safely!
