Anne Hudson, of Columbia, was named to the dean's list at Hamilton College for the spring 2009 semester.

The following Columbia residents graduated from St. Mary's College of Maryland this spring: Harper Peterson Denhard, Valerie Anne Freund, Paul Hunt, Monica Stella Kim, Binwi Elizabeth Ngwa-Suh, Elizabeth Wywialowski Smith, Justin Edward Tepe, Claire Noelle Tolbert, Carmen Tong and James Kiehl Wade.

Jason K. Shafer, a 2005 graduate of Atholton High School, graduated from The Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., May 17. He received his bachelor's degree in carinet performance with highest distinction. He will begin a fellowship with the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Fla., this fall.
