Four county students are slated to attend a national conference for student council leaders in late June. The students, Aliana Akhtar, Su Cho, Yoonjin Min and Samira Nourbakhsh, will be among the 1,500 students at the 73rd annual National Association of Student Councils conference June 27-30, in Denver.

The Howard County students will be accompanied by Tony Miceli, the student council adviser at Burleigh Manor Middle School, and Kristin Schonemann, the Student Government Association adviser at River Hill High School.

At the conference, students will participate in training to hone their skills in leadership, communication, service and diversity issues.

The students also will participate in the "Recycling X Games," including recycling-related athletic events such as a "Dumpster Dive," obstacle course and a recycled art competition, according to organizers.
