Graduates

Joy Fraser graduated summa cum laude from Florida State University with a bachelor's in music. A 2005 graduate of Altholton High School, she is the daughter of Bob and Valerie Fraser, of Laurel.

Danielle Schaefer, of Laurel, received a Master of Science in curriculum and instruction from The University of Scranton, a Jesuit university in northeast Pennsylvania.

Two Laurel residents graduated from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va. Psychology major Lucy Ann Billitier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Billiter, graduated cum laude. Melanie Jean Pino-Elliott, daughter of Rex Elliott and Denise Pino, a theatre major in the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted, graduated cum laude.

Kyle Russell Phillips, of Nottingham, who formerly lived in Montpelier, received a Master of Science in environmental engineering and policy from Johns Hopkins University. He is employed as a chemical engineer at the Army's Edgewood facility in Aberdeen.

Asha Bloomfied, of Laurel, graduated from Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C., with a Bachelor of Science in business administration/management.

Aimee C. Falekulo, a 2003 graduate of Laurel High and a 2007 graduate of Bowie State University, graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore with a master's in social work.

Kadhija Shahela, of Laurel, received a Master of public health from the Rollins School of Public Health of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.

Jonathan Allen, of Laurel, a management and business ethics major, received a Master of business administration from Harding University in Searcy, Ark.

Khushbu P. Patel, of Laurel, received a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies, magna cum laude, from Boston University in Boston, Mass.

Two Laurel residents graduated from Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y. Sean D. McBroom received a Bachelor of Science and Waverly V. Edwards Jr. earned a Bachelor of Science in information technology.

College honors

Two Laurel residents were named to the fall dean's list at American University's College of Arts and Sciences: Annette Mnkande, a sophomore majoring in elementary education; and Corey Williams, a sophomore majoring in theater.

Christopher John Aguayo, of Laurel, is listed on the University of Oklahoma Norman campus honor roll for the spring semester.

Laurel resident Andrew Exner, a senior double majoring in biopsychology and music, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Messiah College in Grantham, Pa.

Andrew Bouland, of Laurel, was named to the dean's list at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., for the spring semester.

David Briggs, of Laurel, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Widener University in Chester, Pa.

Mary Dzwonchyk, of Laurel, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Jeffrey T. Kirkpatrick, of Laurel, a sophomore majoring in music education, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Susquehanna University in Sleinsgrove, Pa. A 2008 graduate of Reservoir High School, he is the son of Thomas and Sharon Kirkpatrick.

Noah Bowman, of Laurel, a sophomore music industry/recording technology major, was named to the York College of Pennsylvania dean's list for the spring semester.

The following Laurel residents were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at McDaniel College in Westminster: Jacob S. Friedman, highest honors; Andrea M. Mills, highest honors; and Adetunji O. Odunlami, honors.

Margaret Everett, of Laurel, a graduate of Reservoir High School, won a NASA Federal Credit Union Scholarship. The annual Mitchell-Beall Memorial Scholarship program rewards college-bound credit union members.
