Matt Laforme, son and Dave and Karen Laforme of Kings Contrivance, graduated magna cum laude from Messiah College with a bachelor's degree in accounting in December. He walked across the stage with his class on May 16. He is listed in "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges" in recognition of his outstanding merit and accomplishment. He is employed by Ernst & Young in Baltimore.

Elizabeth McClayton, of Columbia, was named to the dean's list at Drew University for the spring 2009 semester.

Jamie Schub and Sasha Mital, both of Columbia, graduated from Emory University on May 11.

Daniel Janis, of Columbia, was named to the dean's list at Bryant University for the spring 2009 semester.

Jennifer Hood, of Columbia, was named to the dean's list at Towson University for the spring 2009 semester.

Caitlin Lee Schuh, of Columbia, graduated on May 23 from Marist College.

St. Mary's College of Maryland senior Monica Kim, of Columbia, has received a Fulbright grant to teach English at a secondary school in Taiwan for nine months. She is one of three graduates from her school receiving the Fulbright scholarship this year.

Christa Schestag, of Columbia, received a Bachelor of Science in art education.from the University of Vermont on May 17.
