The Summer Courtyard Concert series sponsored by River Hill Village Center merchants kicked off the season June 19 with The Swingin' Swamies. The free concerts are held on Friday evenings from 6-8 p.m. Other performances have included Brian Gross, Turner, Dean of Magic, Gary Brown and Lone Mountain.
During the course of the series there is usually something to suit almost every taste. Mr. Dave of D's Magic is scheduled to be the featured entertainer this Friday evening. Bring a blanket or chair. Buy something for supper or pack a picnic for the family. It's a great place to meet and greet neighbors and old or new friends. All are welcome.
Congratulations to Kenneth Kreiner Jr. for being the recipient of the Oral B Sonic Complete Electric Toothbrush donated by Dr. Rashmi Parmar's dental office for the silent auction at the St. Louis Picnic this year.
Other lucky picnic winners were Carole Sullivan who won the grand prize in the Money Raffle and Dottie Ernst who won the Autumn Bow Ties quilt. Congratulations!
Dr. Parmar's office had a float in the very first River Hill Independence Day Parade, but they missed last year. Rashmi and staff were touched by spectators who remembered them and noted that they missed them last year. It's nice to be missed.
Dr. Parmar and staff send thanks to all those who help organize the parade and allow the opportunity for a hometown celebration of our country's independence.
Enrollment at St. Louis School is staying consistently just under 500 students. Grades 6-8 are completely filled, but there is space available for students in Pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Applications are being accepted for the 2009-2010 school year. For more information go to www.stlouisparish.org/school or call 410-531-6664.
One of the joys of writing a local news column is checking out new businesses in the neighborhood. Joyce Ludy and I recently visited Massage Envy in the River Hill shopping center and had a delightful Ladies' Day Out.
You may think Massage Envy isn't exactly a new business because they opened in February, but it was new to us, and we received a friendly greeting from Rahna Shahrokh and Devi Kumar.
Massage Envy uses certified massage therapists, including Angie Stein and Connie Bueno, and there are both male and female therapists at the River Hill location. The company originated in Arizona and is a franchised enterprise and the The River Hill and Columbia locations are owned by David DiLucente and Susan Rice.
Call them at 410-531-0711 to learn more about them or go to www.massageenvy.com.
