It's Spirit Week at Reservoir High School, so expect crazy costumes and lots of orange and blue. Head over Saturday morning, Oct. 31, to enjoy a pancake breakfast 7 to 9:30 a.m. and stay for the Homecoming Parade at 10 a.m. It starts at Market Street in Maple Lawn and goes to the school.

The football game will start at 1 p.m. and will be a tough contest against Hammond High School. Make sure you watch the exciting marching band's halftime show.

If you haven't gone to the Central Branch Library yet, you only have a few more days to see the works of North Laurel sculptor John Hayes.

Cindy Clemens of American Field Service in Howard County is still hoping to find homes for two foreign exchange students that are attending Reservoir High School, a boy from Thailand and a girl from Norway.

The North Laurel Multi-Service Center, in the Whiskey Bottom Shopping Center on All Saints Road, has partnered with Grace Community Church to distribute clothing for those in need Saturday, Oct. 31, 9-11 a.m.

There are several activities planned for Halloween in our area. The Savage Community Association will host a fall festival at the Carroll Baldwin Hall, Saturday Oct. 31, 1-4 p.m. They will have a hayride, pumpkin painting, scarecrow making (bring old clothes to make your scarecrows), games, music/karaoke, hot coffee, cider and pie.

First Baptist Church of Savage is holding its eighth annual Fall Festival for children through grade 5 on Saturday, Oct. 31 6:30-9 p.m. at 8901 Washington St., in Savage. They will have free food, games, moon bounces, face painting, contests and fun for the whole family. Call Pam Nixon at 301-725-3944.

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, Nov. 3, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Miller Branch Library for HC Drug Free is sponsoring Teen2Teen - Alcohol, Drugs, & All in Between. A panel of young adults in recovery who will share their experience with alcohol and other drugs. For information, go to www.hcdrugfree.org or call 443-325-0040.

Get your applications in for the training program with the University of Maryland's Master Gardeners program. Interviews start in November. Classes are Jan. 27-March 31, 2010. No experience needed. To receive a packet, call 410-313-2707.
