Linda and Stephen Chalfin, of Columbia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Chalfin, to Ryan Chmielewski, son of Renea and Richard Chmielewski, of Oxford, Conn.

The bride-to-be is a 1996 graduate of Howard High School. She received a bachelor's degree in speech pathology and audiology from James Madison University. She received a master's degree in special education from New York University. She is currently enrolled in the master's program for administration and supervision at Sacred Heart University. She is a third grade teacher with Bethel Public School in Bethel, Conn.

The future groom received his bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Rhode Island. He is a landscape architect with Milone & MacBroom Inc. in Cheshire, Conn.

A June 26, 2010 wedding is planned at the South Britain Congregational Church in Southbury, Conn.
