Army Cpl. Brian W. Hinkle, 22, joined the American Legion Post 60 while home on leave from active duty in Afghanistan. Attached to the 4th Infantry Division, 4th Brigade, 3rd Squadron, he handles mortars, munitions and other explosive devices. A graduate of Atholton High School, he earned the “Combat Infantryman Badge” at Fort Benning, Ga., and had munitions training at Fort Carson, Colo., and training for re-deployment at Camp Polk, La. After two combat tours, one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, he returned Oct. 9 to Afghanistan for his third deployment in a combat zone.
Cpl. Hinkle’s wife, Jessica, is a Laurel resident. His parents, Harry and Lorrie Hinkle, also live in the Laurel area. His grandfather, George W.
Kromer, a member of Post 60, is an Army veteran of World War II (Iwo Jima).
Air Force Airman Allydria A. Rucker and Air Force Airman Kyle E. Lee both graduated from basic military
training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
A 2008
graduate of Laurel High School, Rucker is the daughter of Charmain Rucker,
of Laurel.
Lee is a 2006 graduate of Meade Senior High School, and the son of Karen Serio, of Laurel, and Jeff Lee, of Crownsville.
