Grace Episcopal Church, on Montgomery Road, in Elkridge, would like to thank the Boy Scouts and all of the parents who helped out in the rain to complete Betsy's Garden.

On Nov. 1, more than 100 people came out and joined Grace Church for the dedication of the garden. The church is encouraging people of the community to stop by and view this beautiful site.

Speaking of Grace Church, it's time to put on your white gloves and feathered hats, and join the church for its afternoon tea.

The tea will be held Sunday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m., and the cost is $20 per person and a lunch buffet will be served.

Should you have any questions, or need additional information, call the church hall at 410-796-3270.

The Howard County Library Board of Trustees extends an invitation to community residents to apply for two library board vacancies. One position represents the community residing in Howard County Council District 1 and the other serves as an at-large trustee and attorney for the board.

Overseeing an educational institution that ranks among the finest in the country, the HCL board establishes policies, approves budgets, and ensures that Howard County Library fulfills its mission of delivering quality education for everyone through its three pillars: self-directed education, research assistance and instruction and instructive and enlightening experiences.

HCL trustees, who serve as volunteers, are appointed by the County Executive and County Council for up to two consecutive five-year terms.

While trustees must be available for 7 p.m. meetings scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month, the board typically meets five times per year. The term for the District 1 trustee appointment begins upon County Council confirmation; the trustee and attorney position term begins July 1, 2010.

Interested applicants for the trustee position should reside in District 1 (the Elkridge Branch and Miller Branch are in District 1). Those interested in applying for the HCL trustee and attorney position may live anywhere in Howard County.

Submit a cover letter and résumé before Dec. 20 to stephanie.shane@hclibrary.org.
