As part of an advocacy group with the American Cancer Society, Margaret Walton met with Gov. Martin O'Malley in Annapolis last month.
The group was there to thank the governor for his support of the Breast and Cervical Cancer program and to urge him to resist budget cuts in this area.
This statewide program provides breast and cervical cancer screenings to Maryland's medically underserved and uninsured low-income women.
It was a beautiful day as the group gathered on Lawyers Mall. Pink and white balloons, pink wrapped packages, the birthday cake and the lovely survivor quilt combined to create a striking picture.
Don't let cancer rob you of future birthdays. All women need periodic cancer screenings.
Early detection can make all the difference in the world.

Would you be willing to share your thankfulness in my Thanksgiving Day column? If you would, just send me an e-mail. Remember, an attitude of gratitude makes one happier and healthier.
