Chase J. Engel graduated from the Army ROTC Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, in Tacoma, Wash.

Engel is the son of Gerald C. and Stacey B. Engel, of Highland.

Air Force Capt. George M. Van Osterom, an engineer with the 7th Intelligence Squadron at Fort Meade, was one of 215 other men and women representing all military services and the U.S. Coast Guard who traveled to West Virginia to test themselves in a five-event outdoor competition called "Wilderness Challenge."

He is the son of George and Denise Van Osterom, of Woodbine.
