Navy Ensign Kelly McLin entered into the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, in Bethesda, as a first-year medical student of a four-year program. McLin will be trained and prepared to serve as a physician in the Army, Navy, Air Force or the Public Health Service.

McLin is the daughter of Catherine and Stuart McLin, of Columbia.

She graduated in 2005 from Atholton High School, and received a bachelor's degree in 2009 from Juniata College, in Huntingdon, Pa.

Army National Guard Pfc. Justin Reid graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, in Columbus, Ga. The training consists of basic infantry training and advanced individual training.

He is the son of David Reid, of Adelphi, and the nephew of Bob Reid, of Ellicott City.

Reid is a 2003 graduate of High Point High School, in Beltsville.

David Hirschmann has joined the U.S. Air Force under the delayed entry program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to enlist and delay going into basic military training for up to one year.

Hirschmann, a 2005 graduate of Centennial High School, will report to Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, for basic training in February 2010.

He is the son of Robert Lee and Hazel Ann Hirschmann, of Ellicott City.

Army National Guard Pvt. Pham Phu graduated from the Fire Support Specialist Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, in Lawton, Okla.

He is the son of Luu Ken Thi, of Jessup.

Phu is a 2009 graduate of Hammond High School.
