The Baltimore Applique Society of Howard County and Surrounding Areas recently had three of its leading members, Margo Cramer, Marylou McDonald and Eleanor Layman, featured in American Quilter magazine's January 2010 issue for their skilled volunteer work tracing the patterns and getting them ready for publication, in an article, "Tracing History," by the society's Janet Esch. The society promotes the appreciation of Baltimore Applique style quilts, which are part of the artistic heritage of Baltimore and the mid-Atlantic region. The group meets once a month in Ellicott City.

Saint Agnes Hospital has announced that Dr. Ajay Kumar, of Ellicott City, has recently joined the hospital's medical staff as a plastic surgeon. As a member of the plastic and reconstructive surgery department he will serve as a specialist in plastic, reconstructive, and hand surgery.

Kumar is a fellow of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Prior to joining Saint Agnes Hospital, he maintained a private plastic surgery practice in Duluth, Ga. He graduated from the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his general surgery residency at The Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center and his plastic surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he was named Chief Resident from July 1, 2001 to June 30, 2002.

Hannah More School, which provides individualized academic, vocational, and therapeutic programs to middle and high school students with disabilities, including autism spectrum conditions, appointed four new board members, including two residents from Ellicott City.

David M. Allison, senior manager for audit and assurance services at Ernst & Young LLP, has more than 10 years of experience in financial audits, portfolio management and tax returns.

Linda Prucino, area specialist in the Office of Special Education of Baltimore County Public Schools, has more than 30 years of experience working with special education programs and departments to provide support and services.
