Congratulations go to Lisbon Elementary School second-grader Madelinn Small for her Outstanding Interpretation Award for Dance in the Maryland PTA Reflections Program.
Madelinn presented her dance interpretation at the school level, continued at the district level and was a first-place winner in her age category at the state level.
Jill Berry chairs the Reflections program at Lisbon. This program is an arts participation and recognition program sponsored by the National PTA. Students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade may submit entries on a theme in the categories of visual art, photography, literature, musical composition, film and dance. This year's theme was "I Can Make a Difference by ..."
The Ladies Auxiliary of St. Michael's Catholic Church will be presenting their semi-annual Friendship Tea Party Saturday, May 3 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. There will be live music and a speaker. The menu will include fresh-baked scones and cakes, assorted gourmet teas, tea sandwiches, salads, and gourmet sweets. The cost is $10 per ticket. The Columbia Pro Contare will be presenting its first concert featuring the music of Latin America Saturday, May 3 at 8 p.m. at The Jim Rouse Theatre at Wilde Lake High School.
The concert will span more than three centuries, including music from five countries in four languages and feature Latin American and traditional instruments. Advanced tickets are $23 for adults and $20 for seniors and students. Tickets at the door are $25 and $22, respectively.
