On a perfectly gorgeous spring day, the 50+ Walking Club met at Claret Hall to begin a foray through the River Hill neighborhood. The pathways are mostly shaded, very peaceful and lovely. The group plans to meet at Claret Hall each Thursday this month at 10 a.m.
As we get better acquainted, those who wish to walk more frequently will be able to find walking buddies in the group who stroll at a similar pace. Several who called to express an interest in the group were not able to attend the inaugural event. Don't let that keep you away. All are welcome.
There are cut-off points along the route so you can choose a longer or shorter walk than some. It's fun to get acquainted with active folks in the area. You do not need to be a Columbia resident to participate. So far, about 30 percent of the walkers are coming from the surrounding countryside.
Just a reminder. Christ Lutheran Church invites you to an open house and family fun day Saturday, May 10 to celebrate its new home on Route 108, just south of Guilford Road. Enjoy fun and fellowship from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To learn more, call 301-854-2100 or go to www.christlutheran.net.
Kayla Scott, 6, is always doing something to make her momma, Linda Ludy Scott, so proud. Recently, Ed Scott, Kayla's dad, took her and younger brother, Alec, along with Donnie Brown and his son, Ethan, out for some fishing. Who do you think caught the biggest fish? You guessed it. Kayla's fish was so big, it nearly pulled her into the water. Ed Scott and Brown quickly came to her aid.
Way to go, girl.
