Author pays Folly Quarter students a visit

Students at Folly Quarter Middle School recently enjoyed a visit from author Roland Smith, writer of such books as "Zach's Lie," "Sasquatch," "Peak" and "Cryptid Hunters." Some students, who had read at least one of Smith's books, even had the opportunity to eat lunch with this author and learn about the challenges of book writing. A few days later, the seventh-graders had a visit from Bill Rogers, a storyteller and voice-over performer. Rogers wove a very entertaining tale for the students who enjoyed his presentation.

The fourth- and fifth-grade students at Dayton Oaks Elementary are getting ready for Spring Fantasy Fest. To prepare for the evening, fourth- and fifth-graders have been invited to participate in an art and poetry contest. Students may write a poem or draw a picture based on one of the author's stories, and the winners will receive a special prize.
