Christopher Meyer, son of Charles and Pamela Meyer, of Laurel, and a 2008 graduate of Reservoir High School, has received a U.S. Air Force ROTC college scholarship. The cadet was selected based on comprehensive tests, high school scholastic achievement and extra-curricular activities. Meyer will receive a bachelor's degree and a commission as a second lieutenant in the Air Force following college graduation and completion of the ROTC program.

Army National Guard Pvt. Gary Hwang, son of Young Hwang, of Laurel, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

Army National Guard Spc. Se H. Park, son of Sam D. and Jeong S. Park, of Elkridge, has returned to Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 175th Infantry, based in Dundalk, after being deployed to an overseas forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Park, a chaplain's assistant, has served in the military for two years. The guardsman is a 2005 graduate of Long Reach High School.

Army National Guard Spec. Nicholas Meyer, son of Doug Meyer of Elkridge and Debbie Meyer of Columbia, has returned to Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 175th Infantry, based in Dundalk, after being deployed to an overseas forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Meyer, a combat medic, has served in the military for two years. The guardsman graduated in 2000 from Long Reach High School, and received an associate degree in 2004 from Howard Community College.
