Retired Master Sgt. Peter Nielsen and Bernadette Nielsen, of Ellicott City, announce the engagement of their daughter, Victoria Nielsen, to Joseph Farrell, son of Robyn and Timothy Farrell, of Mechanicsville.

The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Mt. Hebron High School and a 2008 graduate of Frostburg State University, where she received a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She plans to be a middle school teacher in Howard County.

The future groom is a 2003 graduate of LaPlata High School and a 2007 graduate of Frostburg State University. He is a middle school social studies teacher with Charles County Public Schools.

A summer 2009 wedding is planned.
