Autism Workshop> On May 2, autism expert Dr. Stephen Shore will speak to individuals with autism spectrum disorder and their families on how to plan for the successful transition to college and adulthood. This half-day workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Howard Community College Smith Theatre. The registration fee is $50 and includes breakfast. Registration is due by April 30. Competition for Entrepreneurs> The annual Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Competition, sponsored by JA and Ernst & Young recognizes young people who have best embraced the entrepreneurial spirit. The competition is open to any student in grades 9-12 who has started and is currently running his or her own business. Applications accepted through April 30. University of Maryland Young Scholars Program> Targets rising juniors and seniors who have a strong academic record and a desire to excel to experience college life while earning three academic credits. 14 courses are offered for three weeks, July 12-31. National Space Club Scholars Program> A six-week summer internship at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. Open to students who will be 16 years old and have completed the 10th grade by June 2009, have demonstrated high academic success, and have an interest in space science or engineering as a career.
