An Ellicott City resident and aspiring math teacher recently was awarded a fellowship from a national science teaching foundation.

Suzy Yoon, of Ellicott City, was among the 35 recipients of fellowships given by the Knowles Science Teaching Foundation.

The five-year fellowship includes professional development and access to a network of educators who serve as mentors. The fellowships, which the foundation values at $150,000, are intended for those who are relatively new to teaching and are pursuing positions as high school math and science teachers.
