A student from Patuxent Valley Middle School was named a finalist in the National History Day competition for his exhibit on French architect Gustave Eiffel.
The student, Faith Chung, was among six Maryland students honored at the competition, according to the Maryland Humanities Council.
After entering projects in local and state history competitions, 2,500 students -- including 55 from Maryland -- advanced to the National History Day contest, held in College Park June 14-18.
Chung was honored as a finalist in the Junior Individual Exhibit category for the project, "Gustave Eiffel: Magician of Iron."
His teachers at Patuxent Valley Middle School are Leila Mahlin and Ed Esbrandt, according to a news release from the Maryland Humanities Council.
