The National School Public Relations Association recognized four publications produced by the Howard County school system with awards.
The association gave Awards of Excellence to Howard's "Accountability: 2008 Bridge to Excellence Annual Report," which includes academic achievement and financial data, and its "Welcome Home to Howard County" publication, which serves as a recruitment tool.
The system's e-mail newsletter to parents, "Home from School," received an Award of Merit; and its e-communication for staff, "Upd@te," received an Honorable Mention.
Winning publications were selected from a pool of 698 submissions. Of those, only 78 received Awards of Excellence, 168 received Awards of Merit, and 226 received honorable mentions, according to a news release from the school system.
