Laurel High School celebrated International Education Month during November through a variety of activities. Embassy representatives from Paraguay, Venezuela, Ghana and Brazil were invited to address the students; foreign-born teachers made breakfasts from their native lands; and students studied how to make Italian, Philippine, Asian and African food. The month culminated with an assembly Nov. 24, where students performed Indian, African, Caribbean and Spanish dances; international students read poems; and an Indian and African fashion show was held. During the assembly an Indian teacher provided henna tattoos for the students and foreign students talked to the other students about their experiences. Henrique Vissotto, a Spanish teacher at Laurel High School, is chair of the school's International Education Committee.
