Movie under the stars> Glenwood Community Center will sponsor the teen scene event Movie Under the Stars at the center, 2400 Route 97, Friday, May 23 from 9-11 p.m. No admission charge. The feature presentation will be "Transformers." Light refreshments will be provided at an additional fee. For more information, call the front desk at 410-313-4840.

Thomas Ruo has been named to the dean's list at Mercer University for the fall 2007 semester.

Jennifer Busso has been named to the dean's list at Wittenberg University for the Fall 2007 semester.

Courtney Ducanis has been named to the dean's list for the 2007 fall semester at Radford University.

Brittaney Koehler and Christina Roth, juniors at Villa Julie College, were inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the national communication honor society.

PTA nominations> Nominations are currently being accepted for next year's Folly Quarter Middle School's PTA. Terms run from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. From the PTSA> The nominating committee of the Glenelg High School PTSA is seeking volunteers to fill positions on the 2008-2009 executive board. Positions up for election include president, vice president, recording and corresponding secretaries. Marriotts Ridge

Award winner> Brendan McMurtray, a student at Marriotts Ridge High School, has been named a state winner of the 2008 Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition -- a youth award for a water-related science project. Brendan was selected for his project "The Effect of Chlorine on the Control of Zebra Mussels" and will represent Maryland at the national competition, June 19-21 in Orlando, Fla.

Finding child care> Parents in Howard County can get free assistance in finding child care and preschool programs through a service called LOCATE: Child Care at at 410-313-1930 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
