Safe Racer competition> Four teams of Waterloo third-grade students, 13 in all, participated in The Safe Racer competition at the Baltimore Museum of Industry April 26. This competition challenged students to design a race car built for both speed and safety. Team Comet: Matthew Blum, Ryan Gunderson, Sonia Khondokar and Jaya Green recognized for best working drawings; The Safeties: Peter Dolan, Miguel Gonzalez and James Payne recognized for good design process, best engineered car: JAT Engines Justin Homassel, Takato Tsushima and Alex Pongchit; recognized for great team work, best team name, and second place overall; Jumping Frogs: Sabrina Han, Lauren Cho, Brittney Muregesan recognized for best daily journal, best oral report, best written report, best poster, first place overall.
Marriotts Ridge High School
Congratulations> Marriotts Ridge High School student Brian Kim was chosen as the Howard County High School grand prize sweepstakes winner at the Howard County Mathematics, Science and Technology Fair. Brendan McMurtray won the animal biology division. Awards were also presented to students Vidya Gondolia, Casie Duncan, Cara Koontz, Amanda Jefferson Alison Murphy and Nick Davey.
River Hill High School
Alumni theater production> The River Hill High School Theatre Arts Department will present an alumni production of Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie." Performances are June 26-28 at 7:30 p.m. in the River Hill auditorium, 12101 Route 108. Tickets are $10 and available at the door.
