Vivienne Hurt, a sophomore majoring in biology, was named to the fall 2007 dean's list at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Brenau University conferred the master of sciences degree on Bonita Romocan Dunwell at its spring 2008 commencement.

Clarksville Elementary

Congratulations- Sari O'Bryan, strings specialist at Centennial Lane and Clarksville elementary schools, will join Valerie Lawrence next school year as co-director of the elementary enrichment orchestra.

Marriotts Ridge

Congratulations- Marriotts Ridge High School student Brian Kim won the Howard County high school grand prize sweepstakes winner at the Howard County Mathematics, Science and Technology Fair. Brendan McMurtray won the Animal Biology division. Awards were also presented to Vidya Gondolia, Casie Duncan, Cara Koontz, Amanda Jefferson Alison Murphy and Nick Davey.

River Hill

Alumni theater production- The River Hill High School Theatre Arts Department will present an alumni production of Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie." Performances are June 26-28 at 7:30 p.m. in the River Hill auditorium, 12101 Route 108. Tickets are $10 and available at the door. See "Shrek the Third"- Glenwood Community Center will host a free showing of "Shrek the Third," Fri., June 20 from 8 to 10 p.m. at the center, 2400 Route 97, Cooksville.
